A PORCELAIN-MOUNTED WHITE MARBLE and SCAGLIOLA CHIMNEYPIECE
Late 19th or early 20th Century, the porcelain possibly Kangxi (1662-1722)
The later rectangular grey-veined white marble shelf above a frieze of Chinese ladies on a simulated blue porphyry ground flanked by foliate roundels, the rectangular columns each with two oval panels of ladies and three rectangular panels of lions on a simulated red porphyry ground, on later plinths
46 x 57in. (117 x 171cm.); the aperture 34 x 43in. (86.5 x 109cm.)
