Lot Essay

It is rare to find glazed pottery zodiac figures of this type. Compare two sancai-glazed figures of the dragon and hare illustrated in Kaikodo Journal, New York, Spring 2001, no. 62, pp. 204-5 and 326-9.

The result of Oxford thermoluminescence test no. 766j64 is consistent with the dating of this lot.
