Lot Essay

Kanamori Sowa was the first son of the Lord of Hida-Takayama (Gifu Prefecture). After he came to Kyoto and became a Zen priest, he developed a deep relationship with samurai tea masters like Kobori Enshu (1579-1647) and Katagiri Sekishu (1605-73). He is also known as a patron of the Kyoto potter Nonomura Ninsei (act.1661-81).
