The front decorated with figures in a continuous landscape scene within a border decorated with objects and flowers and a further slender floral decorated border, the reverse with an inscription and conforming border, on bracket feet

Lot Essay

The inscription on the reverse of the screen celebrates the birthday of Mr. Wei as composed by Xiong Yi'xiao and bearing his two seals. Xiong Yi'xiao passed the official examinations in the 3rd year of the Kangxi era (1664), and held various high positions. The screen was made and presented to Mr. Wei in the 22nd year of the Kangxi era (1683) and pays tribute to his achievements.
