THE RARE SECOND EDITION, A PUBLISHERS PRESENTATION COPY, inscribed on half-titles for the author 'To John Kiernan From Rich.d F. Burton.' During his travels or periods of recuperation, Burton's publishers often signed presentation copies for him in his absence. He had returned to London only in August 1864, prepared for his showdown with Speke, who died the following month. This is identical to the First Edition but with the pagination error corrected on p. 181, Vol. II and appendices re-arranged. Penzer p. 72-73. Casada 47. Spink 32. (2)
