FIVE NORTH-WEST PERSIAN BRONZE AXE HEADS

Two of spike-butted form, the shaft hole supported by the four spikes joined below the conical tips, the shaft with ridged cord decoration, with curved blades; another similar with four short thick spikes and incised pattern on the triangular blade, 8 in. (20.5 cm.) long max.; another axe head, the shaft with corded decoration running to four long spikes with joined collar, the blade with flanged edges, the top terminating in bulbous stud, 7 5/8 in. (19.5 cm.) long; another with elongated crescentic blade, the collared shaft hole with rounded protuberance on butt, 3 7/8 in. (10 cm.) long, all 2nd millennium B.C.; and a bronze circular 'cymbal' with raised boss decoration overall, the umbo with attached plate with four-pronged handle, late 2nd-early 1st millennium B.C., 7½ in. (19 cm.) diam. (6)
