A GROUP OF LURISTAN BRONZE AXE HEADS
LATE 3RD-2ND MILLENNIUM B.C.
Comprising one with cut away socket, both ends decorated with ridged collar, a high crested butt; another with shaft hole cut-away at both ends, small knob on butt, the straight upper edge of blade raised above the socket; an axe head with long cylindrical shaft, a lion in the round crouching on the back; an axe head with shaft pierced three times for attachment, with two bands of zigzag decoration and both ends with ridged collar, 6½ in. (16.5 cm.) long max.; a fenestrated axe head of duck-bill form, 3½ in. (9 cm.) long; and a bronze pick-axe, with cut-away socket decorated with ridged collar, the butt in the form of a mouflon head, its horns arched to each side, 6½ in. (16.5 cm.) long (6)
