Maker's mark of John Carter II, London 1776
Of tapering form with two bands of ribbing to the body, a loop handle and curved grate thumbpiece with a flat pointed lid, the body with a coat of arms, the lid with the Prince of Wales Feathers, marked to base, 19cm (7 1/2in) high, 955gr (33.7oz)

Lot Essay

The arms are those of Luttrell impaling Drewe, for John Fownes Luttrell of Dunster Castle, M.P. for Minehead 1776-1816. He was born 1752, educated Queen's College, Oxford, married 2 August 1782, Mary, eldest daughter of Francis Drewe, of Grange. Luttrell died in 1816.
