Each of cuboid form with chamfered triangular corners, numbered with dots from one to six and graded in size accordingly
0.5 to 0.8 cm. sq.; 0.933 g. to 3.411 g. (6)

Lot Essay

It has been suggested that the intriguing arrangement of dots on the 'number 5', with the fifth dot being placed outside the square sections, could be linked to a Viking superstition with the number 5. Cf. Exhibition catalogue, Kings of the North Sea, AD 250-850, Newcastle upon Tyne, 2000, p. 145, no. 28 for similar.
