A FINE DOUCAI FLORAL MEDALLION GLOBULAR JAR AND COVER
QIANLONG SIX-CHARACTER SEALMARK AND OF THE PERIOD (1736-1795)

Finely painted and enamelled around the globular body with two registers of eight roundels each containing two chrysanthemums, interspersed with formal lotus sprays, all between underglaze-blue ruyi lappet bands around the foot and shoulder centred with iron-red and yellow dots, the flat top of the cover with a further chrysanthemum medallion and detached florette sprays around the sides

A similar jar and cover of Qianlong mark and period in Taiwan, is included in the Illustrated Catalogue of Ch'ing Dynasty Porcelain in the National Palace Museum, Vol. II, 1981, pl. 24; a pair in the Tianjin Arts Museum is illustrated in Porcelains from the Tianjin Municipal Museum, 1993, pl. 177; while another pair is included in Min Shin no Bijutsu, 1982, pl. 170.
