Of flattened shape, the boat is carved in the form of a dragon, steered by a boathand with a long pole at the dragon-tail aft, another with a flag supported on one shoulder standing on the dragon-head bow, and powered by two teams of four oarsmen on either side of the dragon body, divided by pagoda-like construction on the hull, decorated with flags and flanked on either with a canopy between a main flag incised with the character, Shi, denoting a division of an army
