The square white ground painted in two shades of blue together with green, turquoise and red with scrolling tendrils terminating in two bright red tulips flanked by four green leaves, half palmettes and leaves along each side, part rosettes in two corners, very slight chips, framed

Lot Essay

Tils of exactly this design are about the only examples in the mosque of Rustem Pasha to include a green colour and must therefore be amongst the earliest examples of its use (Öz, Tahsin: Turkish Ceramics, Istanbul, n.d., pl.XXXIX).
