Lot Essay

Identical tiles can be found in the Victoria and Albert Museum (Lane, Arthur: Guide to the Collection of Tiles, London, 1939, pl.5B), in the British Museum (Porter, Venetia: Islamic Tiles, London, 1995, pl.27, p.41), and in the David Collection (Folsach, Kjeld von: Art from the World of Islam in the David Collection, Copenhagen, 1991, no.214, p.170). A further repaired example was sold at Bonhams, London, 12 April 2000, lot 214.
