PIEDMONT'S FINEST FROM GIACOSA, CERETTO AND GAJA TOGETHER WITH A COMPREHENSIVE VERTICAL OF NAPA VALLEY'S ORIGNAL CULT WINE: HEITZ MARTHA'S VINEYARD
Property of a Metropolitan Aficionado
Recently removed by NYWinesCHRISTIE'S staff from one of the city's finest professional storage facilities. Prior to this location the wines were located in a home cellar maintaining ideal temperature & humidity for old and rare wine.
This aficionado has consumed and collected wines over the past three decades. All of the wines chosen for this sale come from excellent sources: top retailers, winery direct and auction.
The following lots represent the third and possibly final installment of a fantastic collection first presented to you in our Los Angeles, September 2003 (lots 681-753) and November 2003 (lots 259-694) catalogues. The exceptional stock reserves of the finest Barolo & Barbaresco producers and vertical of Heitz Martha's calls for particular attention.
We invite you to carefully review the following lots as it is rare in Los Angeles cellars to come across such a tremendous appreciation of Italy's finest Piedmont vintners. Rarities such as Giacosa's 1978 red label Reserva Speciale with base of neck levels included below are exceptional. Equally impressive are the lots of Italy's most revered producer, Angelo Gaja. From his early vintages we present lots in both large format and bottle of his Barbaresco 1971, 1978, 1982-85 & 1988 as well as exceptional vintages of his principal crus Costa Russi, Sori San Lorenzo, and Sori Tildin.
Selections from this cellar will be sampled at our pre-sale tasting April 23.
Château La Mission-Haut-Brion--Vintage 1966
Talence (Graves), cru classé
Level: very top shoulder
In original wooden case, missing lid
