The first prototype of the Megaquartz 2400, developed by Omega in collaboration with the Battelle Institute of Geneva, was presented at the Basle Fair in 1970 and was officially introduced in the market in 1974.
With its precision of one second a month, around 10 times superior to any other quartz watch, the model was and still is considered one of the most accurate wristwatches in the world. A similar watch is illustrated in Omega Saga by Marco Richon, p. 277.
