Lot Essay

Accompanied by Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of this watch in 1956 and its subsequent sale on 15 November 1957.

Reference 2553 was launched in 1954. To the best of our knowledge this is the first time that the present watch is offered at auction. It is thought that less than 10 examples of this reference in yellow gold have appeared in public.

A similar model is illustrated in Die schönsten Armbanduhren vergangener Jahrzehnte by Giampiero Negretti/Franco Nencini, p. 217.
