Two Kashan lustre fragments, central Iran, 13th Century
one originally forming the capital of a ceramic column, a reserved palmette below a bold kufic inscription on a lustre scrolling floral ground, part inscription to one side -- 4 x 3¾in. (10 x 9.5cm.); the other from the upper frieze of an inscription tile, the white ground with crisp lustre interlaced arabesques, traces of inscription below, 5 7/8 x 5¼in (15 x 13.5cm.) (2)
