Lot 2050-2052 levels: one upper/top, one upper/mid and one mid shoulder; one lightly bin soiled label. Lot 2053-2055 levels: one very top, one top and one mid shoulder; one lightly bin soiled, one nicked label, one corroded capsule
Brick-red with tawny rim, and immediately fragrant and sweet in aroma. The nose then deteriorated, to show oxidation. On the palate, a soft, full start, with middle just holding, then some sharpness on the finish. This bottle had seen better days, but retained an intriguing charm. AH
1929 was the 'star' performer at our London sales in the late 1960's and early 1970's, and is still impressive. Level top shoulder, lovely colour, with a healthy glow and relaxed mature rim; the bouquet opened up in the glass, sweet, rich, very good on the palate, sweet, showing it's age but very flavoury with good length. A rare classic. MB
