by Jean-Joseph Barrière (fl. 1763-1793), marked, Paris, 1779/1780, with the charge and discharge marks of Jean-Baptiste Fouache and the first counter-mark of Henry Clavel 1780-1782, struck with inventory number 1923
Circular box, the independent cover, sides and base enamelled with translucent plum-mauve on an engine-turned radiating wavy ground, within opaque white enamel borders, the cover centred by a rose-cut diamond studded and vari-colour enamelled swirling rosette on a matted ground, the sablé gold borders with translucent green and red enamelled leaf and berry border twisted with a band of rose-cut diamonds, the base similarly decorated but without diamonds
