A SWISS ENAMELLED GOLD SEALING-WAX CASE
Geneva, circa 1780/1800, with 'prestige marks', later struck with two Parisian post-1838 restricted warranty marks for gold
Slightly tapering étui of octagonal section, both obverse and reverse engraved with horizontal engine-turned reeding and adorned with blue enamelled rectangles decorated with green and gold paillons containing burnished ovolos enamelled en taille d'épargne in white with 'Souvenir' on the cover and a flowerspray on the base, the corners engine-turned with vertical reeding and the left and right hand sides and borders enamelled with green and gold paillons on a blue band; translucent blue-enamelled top and plain base
