AN ETRUSCAN BRONZE CANDELABRUM FINIAL
CIRCA 470-450 B.C.
Originally surmounting a long shaft, with a spool from which project four branches, each terminating in a lotus blossom, cast in one piece with the figure of a priestess standing on a pedestal base with beading on its upper edge, holding a sacrificial pig in her right hand, supporting the animal on her forearm and grasping its right foreleg in her hand, holding a hooked knife in her fisted left hand, wearing a sleeveless jerkin with crinkly vertical folds over a smooth chiton, the buttoned sleeves visible along the upper arms, the hem with an incised double band, her hair in a tutulus, its spiral bands incised, her thick hair with vertical striations framing the face, with almond-shaped lidded eyes, her lips pursed into a slight smile
