Lot Essay

Claud Lovat Fraser (1890 - 1921) was an artist known for his landscapes and theatrical designs. He also was an avid collector and designer and made these interesting toys. He hoped that a toy manufacturer would use his designs, outlined in his illustrated booklet "A Book of Simple Toys Traditional and Otherwise" written in 1917. These toys were given to the owner's husband by the artist.
