Half red morocco by Gustav Hedberg, spine lettered in gilt, top edge gilt, original upper wrapper bound in (wrapper with skilfully-repaired tears). FIRST EDITION. WITH LOOSELY-INSERTED CONTRACT SIGNED BY STRINDBERG. Tipped in at the end of the volume are an agreement for William Engelbrecht to stage the play for 1,000 francs, signed by Strindberg and dated 20 September 1886; a receipt for Engelbrecht's fees for staging the work; an agreement for Engelbrecht to use Richard Henneberg's score for Strindberg's play signed by Henneberg.
