Edo Period (18th century)
The typical three-plate bowl black lacquered, a maedate [fore crest] in the form of a fan, gold lacquered with a red sun disc, the reverse with crescent moon and the Big Dipper constellation, the close fitting Hineno jikoro [neck guard] laced in dark blue kebiki odoshi [close lacing] together with a matching hambo [a simple mask for chin and cheeks only]
