Unsigned, Edo Period (Mid-19th Century)
Oval with integral himotoshi, gold lacquer ground, decoration in gold, silver, black and red hiramaki-e, gold foil and nashiji, with a scholar seated on a terrace and a karako in a lakeside landscape, compartments and risers gold nashiji, unsigned, ivory ojime inlaid in shibayama style with flowers and foliage, minute chips to edge of one case
