Each with rectangular plate in a mirrored surround painted with scrolling foliage, surmounted by a pierced rockwork cartouche filled with a foliate spray, the similarly carved apron issuing a scrolling candle arm, stamped 'SB', one backboard replaced

Lot Essay

Samuel Bomansson (1726-1771) mirror-maker and gilder from Stockholm received the privileges to open a workshop in 1756.

A very similar mirror, also stamped by Bomansson, is illustrated in T. Sylvén & E. Welander-Berggren, Speglar, Stockholm, 2000, p. 97.
