This elaborately sculpted mirror displays many of the characteristics associated with the work of Burchard Precht (1651-1738). Precht, who was born in Bremen and spent his apprenticeship at his brother's workshop in Hamburg moved to Stockholm around 1674. He began work at Drottingholm Palace in the same year and was appointed court-sculptor in 1682.
A closely related mirror by Precht is exhibitet at Löckö Castle and is illustrated in L. Sjöberg & A. Welin, The Splendour of the Baroque: Löckö Castle, 2001, p.121.
