Figures by a cottage in a wooded landscape

There is a very small area of paint loss in the area of the background beside the cows to the far left of the composition and there are two other small areas of paint loss, upper left. The canvas has been relined. Ultraviolet light reveals strengthening to some areas of the sky and to some scattered areas of detail elsewhere. An old varnish makes some areas of the picture difficult to read under ultraviolet light may obscure some older areas of strengthening. The picture is in a gilded composition frame with a few minor damages.
