EC: I bought this sight unseen from Gruhns. I have three guitars of that ilk, I decided to sell this one and [lot 19] and to keep the OM.
KK: Are the OMs better for you tonally?
EC: No, I think it's in the playing. The tone is different on all of them but.. .I think it's the playability. It's so finite it's untrue. Nobody else but me would probably care, but I'm very picky because I'm lazy. The guitar has to do quite a lot of the work for me (laughs).
KK: What's interesting about the triple Os and the OMs is that people do fall on one side or the other. If they tend to gravitate towards the OMs [it may be because] they have a longer string length. The same string length as the Dreadnought.
EC: That could be it.
KK: It's less than an inch...
EC: I didn't know that. But that means they're going to be easier to bend and to project a little bit more.
KK: ...But for bending - when you're bending notes and doing vibrato. Do you like a lot of tension on the string?
EC: Yes.
KK: So, shorter scale lengths may be harder too?
EC: Oh yes.
KK: Could it feel sloppy?
EC: No, just harder to bend. I've found it actually feels like more tension, the shorter it gets.
CW: Would this have been at home?
EC: Yes...oh yes. I had all three of them on stands next to one another. I used to just sit and look at them, and play one after the other. They're front room guitars, they got played at home extensively, and on records on everything...
CW: And this would have been in the late '90s would it?
EC: Yes.
