EC: This is Brizio paint. It's the same colour as Roy Brizio's hot rod that we were driving for Riding With The King. [A 1932 Ford model B Roadster loaned to Clapton by Roy Brizio of Roy Brizio Street Rods Inc. of South San Francisco.]
LD: Flip Flop paint is the terminology they use in America, because every way you turn it changes colour. Roy's hot rod was really brown, orangey and gold at the front, and the back went into peacock blues and dark blues - we chose the rear end of the car for the colour. Roy painted two guitars, this one, and a black one with a blue sparkle. The name 'Rainbow Rod' was mine - it was never officially sanctioned by Eric. [This one] was used on stage in early 2000 [mostly as a] back-up to the black one [with the blue sparkle]. We always have a back-up guitar because of bust strings... I'm sure it was played on stage a couple of times in the States [23rd June 2001, New York].
This hot rod Strat. was painted in early 2000. Roy Brizio used a Dupont auto paint called 'Chromalusion', the same as that used on the 1932 Ford Model B Roadster he loaned to Clapton at that time.
