Details
1988 FERRARI 328 GTB
Registration No. E136 CPB
Chassis No. 76601
Engine No. 11874
Blue Chiaro with tan leather interior
Engine: V8, twin overhead camshafts, 3,185cc, 270bhp at 7,000rpm; Gearbox: five speed manual; Suspension: fully independent by double wishbones and coil springs; Steering: rack and pinion; Brakes: four-wheel disc. Right hand drive.
After eight years in production the 308 was in need of revision. Pininfarina penned a fresh interpretation of the familiar silhouette and the engineers at Ferrari set about improving the handling. The most significant technical revision was the fitment of a 288 GTO-type steering rack which was far more responsive than the 308, an additional 'out-take' employed from the 288 GTO were the orange detailed dials. Furthermore, the interior was totally revised with new seats, door cards and an updated centre console making for an ergonomically superior 'working environment'. Befitting the heritage of Ferrari, performance was suitably staggering with a sub six second 0-60 sprint time with a maximum possible velocity quoted at 158 mph.
Just 1,344 328 GTBs were built, with only 130 examples coming to the UK. Supplied new by Maranello on 9th April 1988 to W.E. Bedford of Putney Heath, this pre-ABS model is finished in the rare but desirable combination of blue Chiaro with tan leather interior and black carpets. Exterior condition is extremely good indeed except for a few stone chips on the nose of the car and a couple of pin dents to the doors. Apart from some light scuffing to the entry side of the drivers seat, the interior presents well and a period Kenwood radio cassette player is fitted.
