A FORMAL COURT ROBE (CHI'FU) OF CHESTNUT BROWN SILK
embroidered in brightly coloured silks and couched metal thread with nine dragons amidst cloud-scrolls, bats, cranes and further auspicious emblems above a sea-wave border, with borders and horse-shoe cuffs of black silk similarly worked, trimmed with brocade bindings, late 19th century, probably tailored later from an uncut robe; an informal robe of midnight blue satin, embroidered in silks with sprays of cherry blossom and chrysanthemums, 19th century, altered, some wear; and a winter court hat, with dark blue satin crown trimmed with red silk tassels, the upturned brim of black wool facecloth, circa 1900, finial damaged (3)
