of midnight blue satin, finely worked in silks and couched gilt thread with the Eight Immortals carrying attributes and auspicious fruit and flowers within a rocky landscape, the borders of red satin worked with bats and peony scrolls--93 x 19½in. (236 x 50cm.), 19th century; an altar frontal of red satin, worked in silks and couched gilt thread with Buddhistic lions playing with balls and streamers--38 x 75in. (97 x 190cm.), circa 1900; and a narrow hanging of red satin embroidered in silks with peonies, bats and butterflies, with an upper frieze of blue satin worked with figures--66 x 17¾in.
