A finely engineered 20th-Century model of a mid 19th-Century belt-driven vertical gear cutting milling machine,
the underside of the wooden bed inscribed JI and LJRoe, the multi-step pulley driving a centre pillar mounted crankshaft through reduction gears, the disc crank driving the vertical tool holder via a connecting rod with gibbed and cottered big and little ends, the table mounted dividing plate with three-way hand adjustment, finished in green and polished brightwork with a brass palte engraved 1858 1954, mounted on a simulated tiled floor and wood plinth -- 29.5 x 32.5cm.
