A good late 19th-Century lacquered-brass monocular microscope,
signed on the stand Elliott Bros Strand London, the body-tube with micrometer fine focusing, arranged to screw into a horizontal limb from the main pillar, adjustable via rack and pinion, over the ebonised stage with rotating aperture disc and and a brass lever for moving the upper section forwards and back, with substage concave mirror, the main limb tilting on an axis between two brass uprights from a concave triform brass foot, engraved on the underside No 3 F M M, with two objectives in canisters numbered 1 and 3, two eyepieces, stage-mounted bull's-eye condensor and forceps, several amateur slide preparations in a card box, brass tweezers, scalpel and two probes, in a fitted mahogany carrying case with some purple plush lining, key and brass carrying handle -- 26.8cm. (10 5/8in.) wide
