Lot Essay

The baby portrayed in this watercolour is Siri, the youngest child of the artist's family doctor, Carl Anders Carlsson. Siri was born in 1896 and this portrait was executed in 1897. The artist gave it to Doctor Anders Carlsson together with portraits of Siri's older sister Greta (born in 1893) and brother Gunnar (born in 1895). The three portraits remained in Doctor Carlsson's family until 1985, framed together in a triptych.

We are grateful to Ulwa Neergaard for her assistance in cataloguing this work.
