A George III ebonised quarter chiming bracket clock

The case with bell top applied with foliate ormolu mounts to the four sides and surmounted by five flambeau urn finials, elaborate foliate cast ormolu soundfrets to the sides with drop handles, the front angles applied with female foliate caryatids, the moulded base on large brass bracket feet, the brass-lined door with ormolu foliate quarter frets, the dial signed William Hughes High Holborn London on a silvered shaped plaque in the matted centre with calendar aperture, silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with elaborately pierced blued steel hands, foliate spandrels, strike/silent ring in the arch, the substantial five pillar triple chain fusee movement with knife-edge verge escapement, quarter chiming on eight bells via eight hammers with hour strike on a further large bell, the backplate extravagantly engraved with scrolling foliage and with similarly engraved movement securing brackets to the case
