An English mahogany and chequer-strung longcase clock
The hood with brass ball and spire finial above swan neck pediment, outset reeded and brass-capped columns, with chequer inlays around the 12in. diameter dial glass, the arched door also with chequer inlays and flanked by reeded three-quarter length half columns, above plinth with inlaid chamfered angles and raised panel, on bracket feet, the trunk door and plinth with later musical trophy paterae inlays, the 13in. diameter adapted brass dial with silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring signed George Womersley, matted centre with penny moonphase and age of moon indication, arched date aperture, with falseplate to the eight day four pillar movement with anchor escapement and rack strike on bell; composite, case, dial (formerly square) and movement associated, late 18th century -- 83in. (201cm.) high
