A HARLEQUIN SET OF TWELVE 'CHIPPENDALE' MAHOGANY DINING-CHAIRS
COMPRISING FOUR NORTH COUNTRY EXAMPLES, PROBABLY LATE 18TH EARLY 19TH CENTURY, TWO OF SLIGHTLY LARGER PROPORTIONS, STAMPED 'WS', 19TH CENTURY, TOGETHER WITH SIX VICTORIAN COPIES, INCLUDING TWO OPEN ARMCHAIRS
Each with serpentine toprails centred by acanthus cabochon spray above a C-scroll and tapering husks above a pierced and ogee-gothic baluster splat, the drop-in seats covered in yellow velour, on square canted legs joined by H-shaped stretchers with acanthus ears, restorations, the four earliest chairs stamped 'S' on the reverse and with pegged construction (12)
