2 parts in one volume, 8° (149 x 97mm). Roman and Greek type. Aldine device on titles, woodcut headpieces and initials, several leaves uncut. (Quire X misbound in reverse order, light mildew at fore-margins.)
BINDING: contemporary vellum over thin pasteboard, flat spine stained purple and gilt-tooled in compartments, lettered in the second, plain edges (slight wear to fore-edge of lower board).
Second expanded edition of Aldus the Younger's important work establishing a system for the uniform spelling of Latin words. First published in 1561, it was greatly augmented in 1566 with inscriptions and collections of spellings from ancient manuscripts following Aldus's researches in Rome.
