Lot Essay

After the painting in the Schönborn collection, Schloss Weissenstein, Pomersfelden. Titian's Bacchanal of the Adrians, which Van Dyck perhaps saw in 1622 whilst it was in the Aldobrandini collection, Rome, seems to have inspired the composition.
