A pair of Samson green-ground vases and covers
19TH CENTURY
Oviform, with tapering leaf-moulded covers, each vase painted with two oval vignettes of figures before a river and mountainous landscapes, within a broad gilt band, reserved on a dark-green ground gilt with dotted cell-pattern and heavily encrusted with two white female head terminals wearing floral garlands, interspersed with suspended floral swags and pendants, on a socle base gadrooned in low-relief and a marbled square plinth (some minor areas of restoration)
