Lot Essay

Guigou studied at the Ecole des beaux-arts under Loubon, who invited him to show his works at the exhibitions of Bouches-du-Rhone and later at the Salon de Paris. He later became the teacher of the Baron de Rothschild. It is his love for the landscapes and villages of Provence that he is best remembered, well illustrated in this work.
