CIRCA 1815, ATTRIBUTED TO GILLOWS
With a moulded top and rosette decorated frieze, a pair of panelled doors enclosing one sliding tray, six trays missing, and with four graduated drawers to each side, the corners with cluster columns and with turned and boldly reeded feet, minor losses

Lot Essay

This wardrobe's general form features in one of Gillow's pattern books; while its commode doors display flame-figure mahogany that is banded by Grecian-fretted reeds as featured on Gillow's 'low wardrobe' supplied in 1811 for Tatton Park, Cheshire ( N. Goodison and J. Hardy, 'Gillows at Tatton Park', Furniture History Society Journal, 1970, pls. 11A and 10A).
