Depicted with a humorous expression while porting a khatvanga, wearing a tiger skin, anklets, armlets, yogic band and skull tiara, the details very finely incised and gilt

Lot Essay

Tsang Nyon Heruka (1452-1507), was known as the 'mad yogin from Tsang', because of his wild appearance and peripatetic lifestyle. He authored the seminal biographies on the lives of Milarepa in 1484 and Marpa, the Translator, in 1505.
