with lacquered-brass bindings and inset handles, the upper compartment with sections for eight bottles, the drawer containing ten (of eleven) bottles, some with labels for Edward Burden, 38 Duke Street, Grosvenor Square, London, scales and other items -- 12in.(30cm.)wide, circa 1820

It is unusual to find domestic medicine chests in rosewood.
One of the labels on the bottles advertises Medicine Chests of every description designed and thoroughly fitted for Household, Nursery, and Travelling purposes - also for Veterinary use. The purest of Drugs only used.
