This design is illustrated in The New Look, Design in the Fifties, Lesley Jackson, Thames and Hudson, 1991, page 30, where it is also suggested that inspiration for this design may have been drawn from the mobiles of Alexander Calder and the abstract paintings of Juan Miro.
