FIRST EDITION. "The ship hunted whales in the Atlantic, rounded Cape Horn, and headed for the Hawaiian Islands. His [Olmsted's] account of that region reslulted in 'one of the wittiest pictures of Hawai created prior to the visit of Mark Twain'".
