HADLEY, George (d. 1798). Grammatical Remarks on the Practical and Vulgar Dialect of the Indostan Language commonly called Moors. With a vocabulary, English and Moors, the spelling according to the Persian orthography, London: T. Cadell, 1772. 8° (208 x 127mm). Half title. (Half title browned, a few margins lightly dust-soiled, a few light spots.) Contemporary speckled calf (joints cracked, rubbed). Provenance: Thomas Williams (ownership inscription on endpaper, dated 1863). FIRST EDITION. George Hadley's dictionary was one of the first of the Urdu language but was follwed by a large number of bilingual dictionaries.
