The oblong case with curved angles and engine-turned decoration, the plain borders engraved with HRH Frederick Augustus, Duke of York's cipher, the initial F with Royal Duke's coronet above, lined with blue velvet

Lot Essay

Presumably a gift from the Duke of York, the second son of George III and Queen Charlotte, Commander-in-Chief of the British army from 1790 ('he had ten thousand men').
